Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones will introduce the California Low Cost Automobile Insurance (CLCA) Program to students at San Diego City College with the help of ASUS Computer International. CDI representatives will use ASUS products to help students find out whether they qualify for the cost-saving benefits of the insurance program via its new website, My Low Cost Auto. CLCA provides affordable liability-only auto insurance that meets the state's financial responsibility laws for less than $400 a year. Jones will appear at the campus as part of the school's Cinco de Mayo festivities.

WHO:

Dave Jones, Insurance Commissioner, California Department of Insurance

WHAT:

The Department wants to reach eligible students on California community college campuses who may qualify for the CLCA program. The collaboration between the CLCA program and ASUS Computers is an opportunity to engage students online, where they can learn if they qualify for the CLCA program in real time, right on campus.

WHEN:

Thursday, May 5. The commissioner will attend from noon-12:30 pm.

WHERE:

San Diego City College (Gorton Quad)

1313 Park Boulevard

San Diego, CA 92101

WHY:

College students, like millions of Californians, constantly face rising costs. Too many low-income drivers remain uninsured because the costs of standard insurance premiums are beyond their financial reach. CLCA is available to eligible good drivers across California. Drivers without liability insurance put themselves, their families and other motorists on the road at risk.

Visuals:

A variety of ASUS products will be on display for demonstrations of the new, user-friendly program website ( My Low Cost Auto )
