BRENTWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – April 28, 2011: The stars of Sussex County Cricket Club (SCCC) are enjoying a new greener way of getting around, thanks to a new fuel-efficient-fleet from Ford and Apex Car Rental.

Apex, Sussex CCC’s new official vehicle partner, has provided the newly promoted County Championship Division One side with a fleet of new Ford models for use by the players – including England star Monty Panesar, vice-captain Murray Goodwin and overseas star Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, as well as the County’s support staff.

The 15 vehicles selected include Ford Mondeo and Ford Focus ECOnetic models, and well as the Ford Kuga, which has the lowest CO2 emissions in its class. Three additional Ford Transit vans will be used by grounds staff and to transport team kit.

The Ford vehicles were provided through Eastbourne-based Apex, one of the leading long-term and daily rental companies in the south of England and a solus Ford customer which this year alone will take delivery of 8,000 Ford vehicles.

SCCC marketing and communications manager, Trevor Mould said: "We are very much aiming to reduce the club’s carbon footprint so the adoption of these latest, low-CO2 Ford models on to our fleet has helped significantly. In addition, the players find them ideal for their needs.”

Apex Car Rental managing director, Roland Standley said: “We have been a club supporter for many seasons. It is great to see the Sussex players enjoying their new Ford vehicles and that the County is taking environmental issues to heart by working hard to achieve a reduction in emissions.”

Ford UK director of fleet development, Russell McGill, said: “Sussex County Cricket Club’s fleet choice was carefully considered and demonstrates how the latest vehicles from Ford’s environmentally advanced range can help reduce an organisation's carbon footprint.”
