MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – April 18, 2011: Seat’s successful mission to buck the prevailing trend in the UK’s flat-lining car market takes another huge leap forward this month with the showroom launch of a brand new, high-value trim level.

The debut in Seat dealerships nationwide of the Spanish car maker’s luxurious new Ibiza and Leon Copa models, allied to a major marketing campaign across the UK’s press, web, TV and radio waves, comes as welcome news to UK car buyers keen to wring every ounce of value out of their next purchase.

Copa – the Spanish word for ‘cup’ and pronounced ‘copper’ (as in the metal) – sees a raft of high-value and desirable items of spec’ crammed into best-selling versions of Seat’s two most popular models: the stylish Ibiza supermini and sporty Leon family hatchback.

Best of all for would-be Seat buyers, though, is the news that these important upgrades arrive with no increase in the cars’ Recommended Retail Price (RRP) – meaning that, in some cases, Seat is throwing in more than £1,000-worth of desirable goodies for nothing.

The new trim level is launched in all three Ibiza bodystyles – sporty 3dr SC, practical 5dr and capacious ST estate – in one designation, SE Copa, and with a simple choice between two of the most popular engines, 1.4 16V petrol or 1.2 TDI CR turbodiesel.

It builds on the already generous SE spec by adding the following:

  • 16” ‘Fabula’ alloy wheels (1.4 only)
  • Climate control (including refrigerated glovebox)
  • Rain and light sensors for automatic wipers and lights
  • Dark tinted rear windows
  • Leather steering wheel and gearknob
  • Auto-dimming rear view mirror
  • Bespoke Copa upholstery

These features come in addition to the standard Ibiza SE’s medley of equipment which features the likes of cruise control, six-speaker MP3 compatible radio/CD with AUX-in and steering column-mounted controls, alarm, immobiliser and electric windows all round.

Ibiza SE Copa prices start at a highly competitive £11,995 RRP for the SC version.

Leon buyers, meanwhile, have more of a decision to make as SEAT’s sporty five-door family hatch offers two distinct new versions: S Copa and SE Copa.

The former, based on the entry-level S trim level, adds:

  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity
  • Front seat height and lumbar adjustment
  • Cruise control
  • Bespoke Copa upholstery

The latter, of course, takes the Leon SE as its starting point, but goes on to add:

  • SEAT Media System
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Light and rain sensors
  • Auto-dimming rear view mirror
  • Bespoke Copa upholstery

In the case of the Leon SE Copa this comes on top of the SE’s standard dual zone climate control, eight-speaker MP3-compatible radio/CD with AUX-in and USB connectivity, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and XDS electronic differential lock.

The Seat Media System included in the Leon SE Copa is worthy of note, too, since it bundles up not only state-of-the-art touch screen satellite navigation technology and 3D mapping but also dynamic route guidance, an SD card slot for MP3 playback, DAB radio tuner and Bluetooth audio streaming connectivity for a truly hi-tech, high spec’ SEAT.

Like its Ibiza counterparts, the Leon Copa variants are offered with a simple petrol or turbodiesel engine choice. In the Leon’s case, though, it’s the option of SEAT’s brilliant new 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS turbocharged petrol or frugal 1.6-litre TDI common rail 105 PS turbodiesel.

Buyers can snap up the Leon S Copa 1.2 TSI for £16,180 RRP, while Leon SE Copa buyers can sign on the dotted line for a 1.2 TSI-engined version that costs just £16,940 RRP.

However even that’s not the end of the good news. SEAT is further sweetening the Copa pot with a range of tempting finance deals and discounts that run until the end of June 2011.

So, all Copa models are currently available with a massive £1,000 off the RRP, plus the option of two years’ 0% finance (subject to terms and conditions) as well as a variety of enticing Personal Contract Plan offers.

Thus the Ibiza SC 1.4 SE Copa is currently available for just £10,995 RRP – including the £1,000 list price discount – and for a monthly payment of just £199.00 as part of a 42-month Personal Contract Plan agreement (deposit of £597.00, terms and conditions apply, 8.9% APR representative).

Welcoming the arrival of these high spec’, high value new cars Seat UK’s Head of Marketing, Steve Robertson, said: ‘Our new Copa models could not have come at a more significant time for Seat in the UK.

‘We’ve just notched up our best ever single month of sales as well as recording our largest-ever share of the UK market, and I’m convinced that the debut of these new models will see even more buyers heading for Seat showrooms.’
