SYDNEY – April 15, 2011: Team Hyundai Rallye have completed Targa Tasmania, delighted to have been among the much reduced field to finish the challenging rain plagued 2011 event.

Targa Tasmania was the first tarmac rally the Team Hyundai Rallye had contended with factory backing, having successfully completed the 2010 ARC series winning the ‘Showroom class’ and receiving consistent results throughout the season.

The Hyundai i30 CRDi SX turbo diesel excelled in trying conditions amongst a field of more powerful competitors. “I can’t speak highly enough of how the i30 performed this week. It just ate up the conditions and didn’t miss a beat,” said driver Mick Gillett. “This was a new format and race surface for us, and we learnt a lot about the capability of the i30.”

Australia’s most popular and highest selling diesel passenger car was the only diesel to complete Targa Tasmania 2011, and was also the most fuel efficient and economical in the line up. Yet again the reliability of i30 meant no major service works were completed during the 5-day event with only standard daily maintenance required.
