VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – April 14, 2011: Australians will get the chance to watch the international debut of Holden’s new mid-sized player, the Malibu, when it is revealed via high-definition web broadcast next week.

The web reveal, conducted by Holden’s sister brand, Chevrolet, will take place on Tuesday 19 April at 10.30am (AEST) and coincides with the sedan’s unveiling at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Holden will bring the Malibu nameplate to Australia for the first time in 2012 with a line-up of fuel efficient and responsive four cylinder engines. Outside Australia, it will be sold under the Chevrolet name in nearly 100 countries around the world.

Fans wanting to tune in to the reveal can do so by logging on to www.watchthenewchevymalibuinhd.com or http://media.gm.com/live.

Meanwhile, followers of Holden’s social media channels wanting to discuss the Malibu can visit Holden’s Facebook page immediately after the reveal at www.facebook.com/holdenaustralia or follow the discussion on twitter at #malibureveal.

Holden Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales John Elsworth said Malibu’s innovative launch program is part of GM’s efforts to embrace new technologies to promote product arrivals around the world.

“When the Malibu is introduced to Australia in 2012, it will play an important role in our product range, bridging the gap between our high-performing Cruze small car and Australia’s favourite car, the best-selling Commodore,” Mr Elsworth said.

“Not only will it be an important vehicle for Holden in Australia, but several GM markets around the world.

“The decision to launch the Malibu via webcast, a first for the auto industry, really allows us to broaden the reach of the event, allowing literally millions of people to get their first look at what will truly be a world car.”
