SKUSA - Five Drivers Bring Home Top-Fives For Phil Giebler Racing In SKUSA ProKart

BUTTONWILLOW, April 13, 2011: Phil Giebler Racing had five drivers with top-five main event finishes Saturday in the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge South on Buttonwillow Raceway Park’s .69-mile kart track.

Mason Daughters, of Polo, Mo., led the PGR entrants by taking third in TaG Junior. He qualified in third position and finished third and fourth in heats.

“Mason did really well,” Giebler said. “He was four or five seconds behind the third place kart and chased him down and passed on the final lap.”

Jess Peterson, in TaG Senior, and Noah Grey, in TaG Cadet, posted fourth-place finishes. Peterson, of Sparks, Nev., was second and third in the heats and qualified in eighth position. Grey, of Dana Point, Calif., was fifth and sixth in the heats and qualified in fifth spot.

“Jess had one of his better weekends,” Giebler said. “Noah is consistently good.”

Emily Maddison, of Alberta, Canada, finished fifth in TaG Senior. She qualified in fifth position and was 10th and 13th in the heats.

“Maddison was really fast in the main,” Giebler said. “She was faster than the guys in front of her, but got knocked back on a restart and had to fight her way back to fifth.”

Vatche Tatikian, of North Hollywood, Calif., was fifth in S3 shifter karts. He qualified in seventh and was seventh and eighth in heats.

Andrew Wiener, of Chula Vista, Calif., finished 11th in the TaG Senior main. He also was 11th in a heat, didn’t finish the other heat and qualified in 14th.

Chris Cricca, of Simi Valley, Calif., qualified in fourth spot in TaG Senior and was fourth and sixth in the two heats. He was running fifth when a crash eliminated him in the main.

Steve Wiener, of Chula Vista, Calif., finished eighth in the TaG Master main. He was fifth and seventh in the heats and qualified in fourth.

“Overall, it was a good weekend,” Giebler, of Huntington Beach, Calif., said. “I decided not to race because we had so many drivers and I wanted to focus on working with them. We’re starting to show our potential as a group. We’re moving in the right direction.”

Phil Giebler Racing, based in Orange, Calif., uses FA Karts powered by 125cc water-cooled Vortex Racing engines in TaG Senior, Tag Junior and TaG Master. Grey also has a FA Kart and is powered by a 60cc Vortex MiniRok engine. The entire PGR teams races on MG Tires.
