LAS VEGAS--April 12, 2011: NAB (Booth #SU7525) --DTS, Inc. , a leader in high-definition audio, announced today that its HD Radio Technology surround sound content initiative with partners American Public Media, Minnesota Public Radio, JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater from NPR Music, the Cleveland Institute of Music and others has resulted in more than 750 stations broadcasting original surround sound events and content to millions of listeners across the U.S. DTS has been a surround sound leader for HD Radio Technology in the United States since 2004, partnering with licensees such as Ford Motor Company, the first OEM to utilize DTS Neural Surround Sound decoding in its line of Lincoln vehicles.

“DTS high definition surround sound is a great value-add for HD Radio Technology as consumer's expectation for an enveloping entertainment experience moves from the home to the car.”

In the first quarter of 2011, DTS Neural Surround Sound was the format of choice for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Nashville Symphony and Miami’s New World Symphony season openers. In addition, JazzSet, America’s premier weekly Jazz program with the recent Grammy winning host Dee Dee Bridgewater, has broadcast artists including singer and bassist Esperanza Spalding , the 2011 Grammy award recipient for best New Artist. JazzSet regularly features music from the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Denver’s KUVO continues to be a leader in producing surround sound content in DTS Neural Surround with performances by Carmina Burmana and Itzhak Perlman planned in April 2011. Over 100 performances remain in 2011 including nationwide special events performed in Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Newport Jazz Festival and other world-class venues.

"We have seen the number of U.S. radio stations broadcasting in surround sound double in size each year for the past three years,” says Brian Towne, Executive Vice President and COO, DTS. “DTS high definition surround sound is a great value-add for HD Radio Technology as consumer’s expectation for an enveloping entertainment experience moves from the home to the car.”

Programs such as JazzSet and Performance Today use DTS Neural Surround Sound equipment by DaySequerra to encode both live and recorded 5.1 original surround sound mixes for stereo HD Radio broadcasts over existing stereo transmission infrastructures. DTS Neural Surround Sound is the format of choice for its performance, ease-of-use and easy integration for live or recorded content.

The 2011 Lincoln MKT, and new 2011 Lincoln MKX, featuring the THX-II certified audio system featuring DTS Neural are the only vehicles on the market that have the ability to decode the 5.1 surround sound broadcasts through HD Radio Technology.
