Lost Campers USA Adds Fleet of Modern Campervans for Affordable California Travel

SAN FRANCISCO--March 22, 2011: Consumers seeking economical travel options will be pleased to know that Lost Campers USA, the leader in California campervan rentals, announced the addition of ten modern, roomy campervans in time for summer. Created from 2008 (and newer) Dodge Grand Caravans and Chrysler Town and Countries, Lost Campers' Sierra Class establishes a new standard for U.S. campervans. Sierra Class campervans seat four, have dual-sliding doors and:
- feature a double bed set further back that converts to a basic dining table
- accommodate two children's car seats in the back seats
- range from $40-$85/night, depending on season
- allow travelers to enjoy natural destinations in comfort
Lost Campers was founded in 2007 by Nick and Emma Thomson, Australian natives who saw potential in the U.S. market for budget campervans, smaller, mini-van-sized campers that are thriftier and easier to drive than RVs. Lost Campers was self-financed for three years, opening in San Francisco with campervans crafted from refurbished GMC Safaris and Ford Windstars and featuring all the amenities that make camper vans so popular---a full-size platform bed, storage, awning, kitchen kit and seating for two. Lost Campers' retrofitted GMC Safaris can be configured to seat five passengers, sleep two-three people and offer additional storage. Bike and roof racks, tents, surfboards, heaters and GPS systems can also be leased. Lost Campers features 40 campervans in these two classes, ranging from $30 to $75/night depending on the season.
Lost Campers has grown each year, from 10 vans in 2008, to 25 in 2009, to 40 campervans in 2010. Sixty campervans will be on the road by summer 2011. Lost Campers' main facility is located at 2955 Third Street, San Francisco, near the airport and public transportation. The company added a Los Angeles LAX office last year to accommodate travelers who begin or end their journeys in southern California.
