BRENTWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – February 18, 2011: Ford won Franchise of the Year in a new category at the 20th AM awards as decided by the magazine's readers working in automotive retail.

AM editor Jeremy Bennett said AM readers shortlisted three automotive brands based on the latest product range in their dealers' showrooms, the support offered to its dealers by the manufacturer and how the partnership enhances customer service and satisfaction levels.

Ford Britain managing director Nigel Sharp, who collected the award in front of over 1,150 industry colleagues, said: "As the all-new Ford Focus follows new C-MAX into showrooms, and Ford works ever closer with dealers on offering the best sales and service experience, AM readers have recognised the positive impact on the blue oval brand."

The all-new Focus goes on sale from March 1 to coincide with the "11" vehicle registration set to buoy March's market. Also new to Ford's medium car range is the C-MAX in both five- and seven-seat bodyshapes.

Driving improved satisfaction among Ford customers is the company's Viewpoint programme, which has provided dealers with customer feedback about their sales and service record for over 20 years and is a key factor in producing the results which helped win the AM award.

Another Ford success was the induction of Mike Muscroft to the AM Hall of Fame. Chairman and chief executive of Ford dealer TC Harrison, Mike has enjoyed 50 years in the motor industry as TC Harrison this year celebrates 80 years of trading and Ford Britain its own centennial.

Ford dealers Lifestyle picked up the Best Retailer of the Year and Best Dealer Group (more than 10 sites) awards. The Essex Auto Group, which includes Essex Ford, won Best Retail Group (up to 10 sites).
