LUTON, UNITED KINGDOM – February 15, 2011: Vauxhall Motors student placement scheme has been officially recognized to be amongst the best in the country as it is shortlisted for a National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) Award 2011 in the ‘Over 250 Employees’ category, available to businesses offering long-term placements for 20 students or more.

Vauxhall Motors’ long-standing student placements are highly coveted with several hundred applications being received for the c90 places available every year.

The successful student is guaranteed to receive extensive training in different parts of the business and works to a high level of autonomy and responsibility also including exposure to all levels of the business. Many of the placements involve travel across the UK, connecting with Vauxhall’s sites in Luton an Ellesmere Port, agencies in London and various dealerships and in some instances even travel abroad is on the agenda. As Vauxhall is an integral part of General Motors’ global network, students will also benefit from international relationships and exchange with experts encompassing all sectors of the business such as engineering, manufacturing, design or branding.

Many of Vauxhall’s undergraduates are proud to achieve strong university grades following an intensive and fully integrated year at Vauxhall which also lays the foundations for many a successful career.

A perfect example is Vauxhall’s Managing Director, Duncan Aldred, who started his career as a placement student many years ago. “As a former undergraduate benefitting from a placement at Vauxhall, I can vouch for our scheme’s high standards which are rising every year,” says Duncan Aldred. “The scheme permits our students to make a real contribution to the business and to grow in confidence as the year passes by.”
