SYDNEY – January 21, 2011: In 2010, Hyundai Motor Company’s ground-breaking new i45 received numerous awards and accolades from the international motoring media, leading online industry directories, design institutes, safety associations and, the toughest of all critics…. consumers.

Consumer groups have repeatedly indicated high interest in i45; placing it in the top five most researched new models in the United States' largest automotive vehicle valuation company, the respected Kelley Blue Book.

i45’s outstanding performance has not gone unnoticed. i45 has repeatedly been recognised as class-leading. Across numerous comparison tests the i45 delivered excellent results, with outright wins from Edmunds.com, Car & Driver magazine, USA Today and Wheels Magazine, all rating i45 as No.1 in its class for on-road performance and driver experience.

With a standard suite of safety features including Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hillstart Assist Control (HAC) and a total of six airbags fitted as standard across the range, i45 has received a five-star safety rating, from both the NHTSA and ANCAP safety associations. The USA’s Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also selected i45 as its ‘Top Safety Pick’ for 2010.

Another cornerstone of the Hyundai brand is ensuring industry-leading technology is affordable to everyone. Recognition has been received for affordability from leading publications; the U.S News, Sports Auto and TopSpeed magazines among others.

It’s not only outstanding functionality that makes i45 a real winner. The ‘fluidic sculpture’ design language expressed in i45 has been recognised with a prestigious Australian Design Award. Developed from the ground up, with meticulous attention to detail, i45 has been praised by the Australian Institute of Design, which applauded the “considered approach to the professional design process”, and the “incorporation of innovation and environmentally-responsible decisions.”

While winning class segment awards is a worthy achievement, the i45 has been recognised across the automotive segment, competing against all classes, to receive coveted Car of the Year titles from titles including Sports Auto, Gulf Auto and Detroit News.

At the Detroit International Motor Show, i45 has been recognised by Road & Travel Magazine as its 2011 International Car of the Year

With over 440,000 units sold globally in 2010, i45 has not only been a game-changing new model in the Hyundai line-up, but also one of the most successful new vehicles Hyundai has ever produced.

All this, and the i45 is only just entering its first full year of sales in Australia.
