Scotland’s motoring writers’ accolade is the latest in a string of awards for the Audi R8 range.

MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – November 9, 2010: The Audi R8 V10 Spyder has been voted Drop Top of the Year by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) at its annual Scottish Car of the Year Awards, held in St Andrews, Scotland.

The convertible sister of the R8 Coupe saw off competition from the Nissan 370Z Volvo C70 to top the convertible category.

John Murdoch, President of the ASMW, praised the open-air R8, saying: “This year’s SCOTY winner features incredible performance, stunning looks, four-wheel-drive and a wonderful soundtrack, and is sure to become a collector’s item. The R8 Spyder is right at the top when it comes to desirability.”

Drop Top of the year is just the latest award for the highly-decorated R8 range. Since its launch in 2008, the R8 in its various breeds has won a number of coveted titles at the World Car of the Year Awards, Auto Express New Car Awards, What Car? Awards, Top Gear Awards, MSN Car Awards and Business Car Awards.

Highly technically advanced with quattro all-wheel-drive, the Audi R8 V10 Spyder arrived in the UK in April to wide acclaim from the motoring press. The fully-automatic lightweight fabric hood brings added wind-in-hair intensity to the already extreme driving experience delivered by the lightweight aluminium, mid-engined super car. Prices for the R8 V10 Spyder start from £116,660.00 OTR and £95,545.00 OTR for the R8 V8 Spyder.
