SYDNEY – October 25, 2010: Hyundai Motor Company Australia and the Western Australian Hyundai dealer network have joined forces with Women on Wheels to present a series of six seminars in the Perth region during November. The FREE workshops offer practical guidelines for motoring safety and vehicle maintenance.

During each workshop, Hyundai Technicians will be on hand to demonstrate first hand basic car maintenance skills such as checking and correcting tyre pressures, changing a flat tyre safely and what to do if the battery goes flat. The Hyundai Women on Wheels programme will demystify ‘mechanic tech talk’ and ensure participants understand the essentials when it comes to having their car serviced.

“We believe the Hyundai Women on Wheels programme delivers practical and relevant motoring knowledge,” said Nick Aravanis, Hyundai’s Director of Aftersales. “The workshops have been operating for several years now, and during that time we have received positive feedback and encouragement from the women who have attended. Many participants have congratulated Hyundai on teaching them new and valuable skills.”

Since 2008, Hyundai has partnered with Women on Wheels, hosting over 150 workshops conducted in their modern dealer facilities around the country, including regional and rural towns as well as major cities.

Day-to-day vehicle maintenance, motoring and mechanical knowledge are often overlooked when it comes to skill acquisition for women. The Hyundai Women on Wheels programme is designed to assist women in becoming more mechanically literate, and offers hands-on practical exercises, which are designed to empower women with the skills and knowledge to ensure they operate with self-assurance and confidence when it comes to motoring matters.

"We want our workshop attendees to walk out at the end of the night confident they can talk to a service technician about their car and appreciate basic car maintenance and safety should they find themselves in an emergency situation,” said founder of Women on Wheels Jacqui Morrison-White. “Hyundai and the Hyundai dealer network have been the perfect partners for the programme, offering their resources, facilities and know-how. Their extensive national network of dealers allows us to reach women all over the country.”

The Women on Wheels programme comes to Perth in November with a series of six events being held around the metropolitan area. Attendance is FREE, but places are limited to 50 spots per event with light refreshments served. Hyundai ownership is not a pre-requisite. All participants will receive a complimentary Hyundai Emergency Breakdown Kit.
