AUTO CENTRAL - October 13, 2010: After many months of stalling, the EPA may finally give the okay that the ethanol industry and all sensible Americans have been anxiously awaiting: a federal mandate to add 15% ethanol to all gasoline (although the gasoline industry and their whores have been dreading this change for obvious reasons).

A press conference is set for 1:30PM EDT in Washington, DC. TheAutoChannel.com will be covering the event and will present the complete conference via on-demand audio playback shortly after the conclusion of the live event.

A mandated increase to e15 for all gasoline will give America's ethanol producers a 50% production increase, which is expected to help encourage new private investment in the alternative fuel, as well as assist several struggling ethanol plants that have had a hard time financially because of the 10% cap. Of course, the position that The Auto Channel has supported for some time is an increase of the federal mandate for ethanol in all regular gasolines to at least 30%. An increase to 30% would allow the U.S. to eliminate our need for a large portion of imported foreign oil (some say all foreign oil).

On the other hand, the forces of evil and darkness, A.K.A. the gasoline lobby, has been working overtime to portray ethanol as damaging to vehicle engines, inefficient and environmentally harmful. Although these are all lies and gross distortions, the money doled out to politicians and media spokesmen to spread these untruthful reports has been insurmountable.

Last February, the EPA held a similar press conference in which they announced that ethanol was indeed cleaner and more efficient than they previously were led to believe. That press conference should have signaled the national change to e15. But apparently pressure from the dark side kept them from making the announcement. It will be interesting to see what they do today.
