SYDNEY – October 8, 2010: As part of its focus on continuous improvement, Hyundai Motor Company Australia has announced a raft of specification enhancements to four of its volume models in the range.

Highlights include side and curtain airbags fitted to 2011 i20 Active versions, making i20 Australia’s most affordable car to deliver 5 star ANCAP safety as standard. The 2011 ix35 range, also recently awarded a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, receives revised steering and modified suspension.

The 2011 i45 sees the introduction of a fully integrated satellite navigation system available in the model range, plus revised suspension tuning, which includes the introduction of Amplitude Selective Dampers on Active and Elite model variants.

To round off the changes, all 2011 i20, i30, and ix35 models are fitted with a Bluetooth® integrated audio system. Bluetooth® is also standard on the i45 Premium, and available as a Genuine Accessory on other i45 models.

2011 i20 range
The newest model in the Hyundai range receives a new hue in the interior with the application of the signature Hyundai blue illumination (replacing orange) in the instrumentation cluster. Bluetooth® is now standard on all trim levels. The Active entry model receives enhanced passenger safety with side and curtain airbags fitted as standard, ensuring that all 2011 i20 model variants receive an Australian 5-star ANCAP safety rating. All 2011 i20s come with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).

2011 i30 range
Already a 5-star ANCAP safety rated car, the multi-award winning i30 benefits from the introduction of Bluetooth® integrated into the audio unit on all trim levels.

Styling on i30 has been updated with a black headlamp bezel. A silver finish has been applied to roof rails on i30cw wagon. A new titanium finish is applied to mid-level SLX trim model variant 16” alloy wheels.

SLX, SR and Sportswagon model variants receive a one touch triple turn signal feature and all model variants receive a headlamp escort function that leaves the lights on for 30 seconds.

2011 i45 range
Hyundai’s award winning i45 mid-sized sedan benefits from a host of 2011 updates including satellite navigation with Bluetooth® standard on the Premium model and

available as an option on Active and Elite model variants. Premium models also gain heated front seats as standard.

Spring rates have been increased considerably. The front springs are 15 percent stiffer and the rears have been increased by 6 percent. These revisions reduce body roll in cornering and pitch when braking.

Thicker stabiliser bars (+1mm front and +3mm rear) reduce body roll and understeer. This delivers more neutral and predictable handling characteristics and improves steering weight.

The Amplitude Selective Dampers on Premium models have been recalibrated and introduced for the first time on Active and Elite model variants. The new Amplitude Selective Dampers offer a more comfortable, plusher ride and contribute to improved handling.

The sum total of these revisions is focused on improving handling, driver feedback and ride quality for Australian road conditions. In particular, mid-corner stability, steering response and ride quality over second-rate roads has been benchmarked against significant volume sellers including Toyota’s Camry and Honda’s Thai-built Accord.

Additional sound deadening material has been added to reduce NVH and boost refinement levels.

2011 ix35 range
The 2011 ix35 range has been awarded a 5-star ANCAP safety rating. In addition, the range receives rear parking sensors, to complement existing safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-skid Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Brake Control (DBC)

Steering for 2011 ix35 compact SUV has been revised. Power assistance is now by Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS), which enhances efficiency and improves steering feel. Telescopic (reach) steering column adjustment has been added to improve driver comfort (electrically operated driver’s seat deleted on Active model variants).

AWD model variants benefit from the addition of Amplitude Selective Dampers, which provide enhanced handling control while the automatic adjustment to road conditions reduces ride impact harshness.
