BRENTWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – Aug 27, 2010: A Ford campaign offering free Visual Health Checks has resulted in one lucky owner winning a makeover for his car.

As part of Ford's "Spring into Summer" campaign owners of Ford cars were invited to take their vehicles to a Ford dealer for a free Visual Health Check. Owners of vehicles over three years of age could apply for a £10,000 'makeover', with the winner being selected by Ford WRC driver, Mikko Hirvonen.

The lucky owner, Derek Miller, of Orpington, Kent, will now have the opportunity to have £10,000 of refurbishment work done to his 1984 Ford Granada. Derek said: "Our Ford Granada has been in the family since 1987 and served us well including holidays in Cornwall and even as the bridesmaids' car at my daughter's wedding. It will be great to restore it to its former glory."

Choosing the Granada, Mikko said: "As the owner of a classic Ford myself, I am really pleased to help Derek turn back time on his car."

Ford's free Health Check inspects wheels and tyres, electrical systems, fluids, brakes, steering and exhaust. All Ford owners, having work completed following the inspection, had the chance to enter a draw to win a refund of up to £1,000. The five lucky winners were W Smith of Troon; R Ellis of Horsham, Surrey; M Thorpe of Tunbridge Wells, Kent; G Johnson of Silsden, Keighley; and J Battrick of Worthing, Sussex.
