SYDNEY – July 30, 2010: Hyundai’s all-new i45, known as Sonata in North America, has scooped another award, having been nominated by ‘TopSpeed’ in the US as number one mid-size sedan under USD $30,000, ahead of segment rivals Volkswagen Passatt CC, Mazda 6, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

TopSpeed stated, “We were sceptical, but once we got behind the wheel of this machine our attitudes changed. The interior is a fun place to sit and the fuel economy is just out of this world. The i45 [Sonata] was a clear winner.”

Created at Hyundai Design North America, located in Irvine California, i45 represents the second iteration of Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design philosophy, embodying quality and substance from every angle and has already surprised experts and consumers alike with its outstanding fuel economy, spacious interior and confident warranty program of five-years / unlimited kms.

The all-new Hyundai i45 boasts class leading power offering a polished performance delivered by the new 2.4-litre Theta II GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) petrol engine designed to achieve impressive fuel efficiency, low emissions and minimum operating costs.

Already notching up an impressive 14 global awards since launch including ‘Car of the Year 2010’ by GulfAuto, ‘Top 10 Best Dark-Horse Car of the Year’ by Edmunds.com, 2010 ‘Best Car of the Year’ by Sports Auto, and an ‘Australian International Design Award’, the Hyundai i45 sets new standards in the mid-size segment.

Marketing Director for Hyundai Motor Company Australia, Oliver Mann said, “This accolade is another respected endorsement for i45 which offers enormous appeal to the astute Australian buyer.”
