Coulomb Technologies to Significantly Expand ChargePoint Network with Announcement of Strategic Partnerships

CAMPBELL, Calif.--Coulomb Technologies today announced plans to significantly expand the ChargePoint® Network through partnership agreements with Leviton, Siemens and Aker Wade. Each of the Coulomb partners will market and distribute their own brand of home and/or public electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) built specifically for the ChargePoint Network. The ChargePoint Network is founded on an open interface, standards-based architecture providing station owners with a complete set of business applications, and providing drivers with EV charging apps to make fueling electric vehicles easy and low cost.

“Coulomb’s partnership expansion brings significant features, benefits and access to the largest installed base of networked charging stations worldwide. Since 2007 Coulomb has made significant technological innovations in the development of the ChargePoint Network”

Powered by the ChargePoint Network open interface architecture, Coulomb’s industry partners products include:

  • Leviton: Level I and II residential and public charging stations for the US and Canada EV market.
  • Siemens: Level I and II residential and public charging stations in the US, Canada and Europe.
  • Aker Wade: Level III networked fast charging stations for electric vehicles worldwide.

Using the ChargePoint Network, EV drivers can locate, access and use any of the expected thousands of partners’ charging stations using a smart phone, iPhone or Blackberry App. Station owners can set access pricing via a web enabled user interface, energy providers can manage grid load and billing, and fleet managers can track the charging of their vehicles.

“Coulomb’s partnership expansion brings significant features, benefits and access to the largest installed base of networked charging stations worldwide. Since 2007 Coulomb has made significant technological innovations in the development of the ChargePoint Network,?? said Richard Lowenthal. “This announcement is significant because having an open network interface, brings the customers of our partner EVSE manufacturers, regardless of hardware type, the ability to use the ChargePoint Network Operating System which has been serving customers since January of 2009.??

Coulomb's ChargePoint Network, is open to all drivers of plug-in vehicles and provides authentication, management, and real-time control for the networked electric vehicle charging stations. The network of electric vehicle charging stations is accessible to all plug-in drivers by making a toll free call to the 24/7 number on each charging station, or signing up for a ChargePoint Network monthly access plan and obtaining a ChargePoint ChargePassâ„¢ smart card.
