SYDNEY--Tesla Motors (TSLA), producer of the Roadster, the only highway-capable electric performance vehicle, announces the delivery of the first Roadster in Australia. The Tesla Roadster is now approved for Australian roadways and available for purchase.

“In a Tesla Roadster, you know you're driving the future.”

The handmade, carbon fiber Roadster is the only car that delivers supercar performance with zero tailpipe emissions. It accelerates from 0-100km in less than four seconds and consumes no petroleum. The Roadster plugs into any conventional socket and can travel over 380 kms on a single charge. It is the only sports car in the world that can be charged with solar, hydro or wind energy.

Simon Hackett, a successful technology entrepreneur in Australia, believes passionately in the role of electric vehicles for a sustainable future. A testament to his passion for electric vehicles, Mr. Hackett is the first Tesla owner in Australia. Mr. Hackett also holds the record for distance driven on a single charge in a production electric vehicle, which he broke driving 501 kilometers in a Tesla Roadster.

"The Roadster delivers an addictive driving experience. Once I felt the fluid, on-demand power curve of the car, I couldn't go back," said Simon Hackett. "In a Tesla Roadster, you know you're driving the future."

The Roadster requires less routine maintenance than conventional cars. It does not need oil changes or exhaust system work. Roadsters have no spark plugs or pistons to replace.

Tesla is revolutionizing the customer experience with its house-call approach to service. Tesla's pioneering mobile service technicians, Tesla Rangers, travel to a customer's home or office and perform annual inspections, firmware upgrades and other services. Customers can enjoy service from their home or office wherever they live.

Tesla Motors has sold more than 1,200 Roadsters to customers in at least 28 countries. The company sells cars directly to clients, both online and in a growing network of regional showrooms worldwide.
