-- By the end of this year, Austinites should be able to buy the new electric car from Chevrolet, called the Volt. By next February, hundreds of Leafs, Nissan's plug-in car, will be on the roads around Houston, which also announced on Thursday that it would allow purchasers of the Volt to charge their cars for free. Already, at least 30 Texans own Teslas, a high-end plug-in roadster.

Have you driven a gas-electric hybrid Ford Lincoln lately? CBC News July 23, 2010

- I am not generally a Ford Lincoln kind of guy. More of a subway and rusty four-banger type. Today, however, North America's only truly solvent car giant announced it would reduce the price of the gas-electric hybrid version of its MKZ sedan to that of its normal gas-only version, a car that uses twice as much gasoline. Even if you have no intention of ever driving a Lincoln, that's exciting news.

Anaheim Transportation Network Selected to Test Bus Conversion from Diesel to Electric Scottrade July 23, 2010

-- The Anaheim Transportation Network (ATN) announced a partnership with NexGen Power Group Inc., based in San Clemente, CA, to test a fully functional heavy-duty, zero-emission, battery-powered transit bus for one year beginning December 2010. NexGen Power will retrofit two buses from diesel to an electric operating platform to perform a full operating day.
