AUTO CENTRAL – July 8, 2010: 4x2 versions of Duster, Dacia's off-road vehicle which was launched in France in April 2010 and which is already proving very successful, are now available with two new Euro5 powerplants: the 1.6 16V 105 E85 engine, and the dCi 90 DPF1 diesel engine.

All versions of Dacia Duster (petrol and diesel, 4x2 and 4x4) comply with the Euro5 emissions standard. The Duster 1.6 16V 105 E85 4x2 sees Dacia extend its line-up of bioethanol2 vehicles in France. The newcomer joins Logan MCV 1.6 16V 105 E85 and Sandero 1.6 MPI 90 E85 which were launched in October 2009 and March 2010 respectively.

Tax-paid prices in France for Dacia Duster 1.6 16V 105 E85 4x2, which replaces the 1.6 16V 105 4x2 version, start from €11,900. Buyers of Dacia Duster 1.6 16V 105 E85 4x2 in France benefit from attractive tax incentives: the eco-bonus surcharge levied in France does not apply to this bioethanol-fuelled version, while the registration document is free of charge or comes at half-price in many of the country's administrative departments. The 1.6 16V 105 E85 engine is flexible and runs equally as well on E85 fuel as its does on 95-octane, E10 95-octane and 98-octane petrol. Tax-paid prices in France for Dacia Duster dCi 90 DPF 4x2, which replaces the dCi 85 4x2 version, start from €14,700. Order books for these two new versions are already open across the sales network.

Dacia Duster 1.6 16V 105 E85 4x2 emits 160 g/km with E85 fuel and 165g/km with petrol3. The 'wellto-wheel' CO2 emissions of Dacia Duster 1.6 16V 105 E85 are 96g/km 4. Bioethanol is a diversified and renewable energy source that helps reduce dependence en fossil fuels.

Dacia Duster 1.6 16V 105 E85 4x2 is economical to run: the pump price of E85 fuel is particularly attractive in France (0.86 €/litre on average). Moreover as E85 contains up to 85 per cent ethanol, its price is less subject to fluctuations in crude oil than petrol.

Dacia Duster dCi 90 DPF 4x2 emits just 130g of CO2/km and consumes 5.0 litres/100km. This diesel powerplant is equipped with a self-regenerating particulate filter.

Both new Dacia Duster versions qualify for the Dacia ecoČ signature, since :

  • Dacia Duster dCi 90 DPF 4x2 emits less than 140g of CO2/km, while Dacia Duster 1.6 16V 105 E85 runs on biofuel;
  • both versions are manufactured at the brand's ISO 14001-certifed plant in Pitesti in Romania;
  • more than five per cent of the plastic the two versions contain is sourced from recycling, and both are 95 per cent end-of-life recoverable.
  • Like all Dacia vehicles, Duster 1.6 16V 105 E85 4x2 and dCi 90 DPF 4x2 come with a three-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever of the two thresholds is reached first).
