All-New Interior For 2010 Dodge Caliber
MELBOURNE – July 5, 2010: The 2010 Dodge Caliber combines technology, value, bold styling and now an all-new interior design.
The 2010 Dodge Caliber features an all-new redesigned interior, including a new instrument panel with a centre storage bin, a centre console with a padded armrest split-lid for added storage space, and soft-touch door-trim panels. The all-new instrument panel features a smooth design aesthetic, while chromed accents brighten new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) vents, shift bezel, and cluster rings.
Other impressive interior features include a Chill Zone cooled-beverage storage bin, rechargeable LED flashlight and an available MusicGate Power™ Sound Group including two articulating speakers packaged in the liftgate that swing down.
The 2.0L DOHC 16-valve petrol engine delivers power and refinement thanks to dual Variable-valve Timing (VVT) and an intake manifold design with flow control valves. Combined, these features produce more power, better fuel economy and a smoother, quieter operation than engines without them. The 2.0-litre petrol engine replaces the 1.8-litre engine, delivering 4 percent more power (115 kW) and 13 percent more torque (190 N•m).
The Dodge Caliber’s CVT continuously varies the transmission ratio, providing an infinite number of gear ratios and allowing the engine to stay in its most efficient operating range. The transaxle uses two “V” pulleys and a steel push belt to vary the input speed to output speed ratio instead of traditional discrete gear ratios activated by clutches or bands.
Chrysler Group’s CVT contributes a 6-8 per cent improvement in fuel economy (combined cycle 8.0L/100 km) compared with a traditional automatic transmission. Eliminating up shifts allows the transmission to engage the torque converter clutch almost immediately when accelerating and to keep it engaged throughout speed changes. This eliminates torque converter slippage common in stepped transmissions and results in more efficient operation, especially during city driving.
