SYDNEY – July 5, 2010: Strong June sales have Suzuki on track for another record year.

Suzuki sold a total of 2,342 cars in June, up nearly 14 per cent on the 2009 figure. It was the third best month in the company’s history.

Year to date sales for Suzuki total 12,327, an increase of more than 23 per cent over last year and two per cent higher than the company’s record 2008 figure.

“These results confirm Suzuki’s position as one of the fastest growing brands in the country,” said Suzuki Australia General Manager Tony Devers.

The June result came on the back of a record month for the Alto, which has just been recognized as Australia’s least expensive car to own and operate.

With a drive away price of only $12,490, outstanding fuel efficiency of just 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres and low servicing costs, the Alto GL was the standout in the NRMA’s annual running costs survey.

Its average weekly fuel bill was calculated at $21.14 per week and its overall cost per kilometre a mere 31 cents.

Devers said the arrival of new Alto stock would help satisfy the strong demand for Australia’s budget beating champion.

“We are well on track to meet our target of 25,000 vehicles and 2.6 per cent market share,” he said.
