BREA, Calif. July 2, 2010; As America prepares to celebrate its birthday and independence, many Americans are getting ready to enjoy their freedom with the pursuit of the open road. Historically, the automobile has been a symbol of individual free will, allowing people to explore on their own schedule.

Few car companies are better equipped to provide consumers with that symbol of “go anywhere” freedom better than American Suzuki. After inventing the compact SUV in the early 1970s, and introducing the Suzuki Samurai in the fall of 1985, Suzuki’s off-road credibility is well established. The 2010 Grand Vitara, 4X4 Equator pickup and all-wheel-drive SX4 Crossover preserve this autonomous dependability. All three vehicles combine Japanese engineering, reliability and ruggedness with a fun-to-drive element even Paul Revere would yell about.

No midnight ride, however, can prepare drivers for the excellence of the Suzuki Kizashi. Kizashi, which translates into “something great is coming,” is Suzuki’s first entry into the ultra-competitive midsize sedan segment. With expressive sheetmetal enclosing an extremely competent chassis, ownership is as exciting as Yankee Doodle and as secure as Martha Washington’s bread pudding. With a well-equipped base price of under $20,000, and a fully optioned (with available all-wheel drive) sticker of just under $28,000, the Kizashi takes a fully independent route to the midsize sport sedan segment.

Finally, if you prefer your independence wrapped in a smaller flag, the SX4 Sport or SX4 SportBack should get your vote. With a platform borrowing heavily from the world-renowned Suzuki Swift, the ‘sport’ variants of the SX4 make any “T (for traffic) Party” an extra special occasion.

As America celebrates its independence and remembers those responsible for achieving and maintaining it, American Suzuki joins the parade with a full vehicle lineup inspired by the very real need to (at least occasionally) get the bell out of town.
