BSA, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Celebrate Centennials

INDIANAPOLIS, May 30 -- The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), which is celebrating its 100th Anniversary, will unveil a special-edition IndyCar entry at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Sunday's running of the Indy 500. The anniversary-themed No. 19 car is a commemorative gold and white.

"This is amazing to be a part of history," driver Alex Lloyd said. "In my wildest dreams, I would never have imagined from when I was a Scout in England 15 years ago that I would be driving the Boy Scouts of America IndyCar, let alone during the BSA's 100th Anniversary."

In January, the BSA and Dale Coyne Racing announced a new alliance focused on advancing youth leadership and education. As part of this alliance, DCR is fielding the BSA's No. 19 IndyCar through the entire IZOD IndyCar Series season.

"To have two legendary organizations--Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Boy Scouts of America--celebrate our first 100 years with the No. 19 BSA car in the Indy 500 is a dream come true for our entire membership--past, present, and future," BSA Chief Scout Executive Robert Mazzuca said.

Team owner Dale Coyne is also humbled to be part of it. "It is a true honor to represent the more than 100 million Scouts who have been members of the BSA since its inception back in 1910," he said. "It is inestimable the contributions that they have made to our country."
