Experts From Torino (Italy) to Present 'Sustainable Mobility, Innovative Technologies' at 2010 SAE World Congress

DETROIT, April 12, 2010; Leading authorities on sustainable mobility from Torino, Italy's automotive capitol, will be presenting a half-day seminar at the SAE World Congress 2010 in Detroit on Tuesday, April 13, 2010.

Sponsored by the Torino Chamber of Commerce and organized by the Piemonte Agency for Investments, Export and Tourism, the seminar, 'Sustainable Mobility & Innovative Technologies - Made in Torino' will highlight the advancement of eco-sustainable urban mobility vehicles through innovative structures, materials and technologies in both vehicle and powertrain development in Italy, especially in Torino and its region Piemonte.

Included will be the introduction of new technologies for "info-mobility," also referred to by OEMs and suppliers as "The Connected Vehicle," as well as the management of transportation via intelligent traffic systems.

Presenters will include senior executives from General Motors, Fiat, Pininfarina, 5T - Telematic Technologies for Transport and Traffic in Torino and the Torino Chamber of Commerce.

Torino and Piemonte, long known for providing global automakers and suppliers with an ideal location for automotive engineering, product development, research and technical operations, is now emerging as one of the leading centers for the convergence of all disciplines related to the development of sustainable mobility.

"Today's transportation is facing growing problems, but in Torino and Piemonte this is an opportunity and not a limitation," said Alessandro Barberis, president, Torino Chamber of Commerce. "We have an active network consisting of technological parks, research centers and labs, universities, companies and institutions, working together to develop innovative projects on new vehicle design and intelligent traffic management systems, using innovative materials and the latest technologies."

Celebrating its 33rd consecutive year of exhibiting at the SAE World Congress, Piemonte will be showcasing its latest technologies at one of the largest exhibits (booth #606) on the show floor.

Featured in the stand will be innovative technologies from companies such as Fiat Powertrain Technologies, S.p.A., General Motors Engineering Center, Torino and "Phylla," a hydrogen-solar hybrid car developed by Centro Ricerche Fiat S.C.p.A., Torino amongst others.

Daniel Hancock, vice president, Engineering - General Motors, Nevio DiGiusto, CEO, Fiat Research Center and Silvio Angori, CEO & general director, Pininfarina will be among the presenters.
