VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA - March 30, 2010: Over 130 of the country’s most passionate Mazda MX-5 owners and their cars will gather this weekend in McLaren Vale, South Australia, to celebrate 20 years of the popular two-seat roadster and its dedicated motoring clubs.

McLaren Vale and the Fleurieu Peninsula will be alive with colour as MX-5 club members from around Australia gather for their ninth national meeting in celebration of the Mazda MX-5, now in its 21st year of production.

The four-day event program from April 2-6 features a range of social activities including a fund-raising auction in aid of the McLaren Vale and Districts War Memorial Hospital and convoy drives to Middleton-Goolwa, McLaren Vale wineries and southern beaches.

Spectators are welcome to attend the judged MX-5 concours d’elegance at McLarens on the Lake on Easter Saturday morning and at the hillclimb competition and Funkhana on Sunday morning. Spectator vantage points for these events can be obtained from the event program available on the NatMeet website.

This premier biennial event is hosted by the MX-5 Club of South Australia, with support from Mazda Australia and the City of Onkaparinga.

About the MX-5
On February 9, 1989, Mazda Motor Corporation revealed a sporty little roadster at the Chicago Auto Show. On February 27 that same year, the latest and greatest version of that roadster made its Australian debut at the Melbourne motor show.

Today, the Mazda MX-5’s popularity is unchallenged – more than 860,000 MX-5s have been sold on all continents of the world, except Antarctica – and to this day it remains the only two-seat roadster to combine the traditional front-engine, rear-drive layout, an affordable price, and the pleasure of driving.
