Englewood, March 9, 2010: K-Pax Racing announced today that drivers Randy Pobst and Andy Pilgrim will both return in the Volvo S60 AWDs this year.

This marks the second year that K-Pax Racing will campaign the Volvo S60s in the World Challenge GT Championship. The Volvo debuted in 2009 and won three races with Randy Pobst and Andy Pilgrim behind the wheel.

Pobst is both optimistic and excited about his chances this year.

“I predict that 2010 will be the year of the K-Pax Racing Volvo S60,” Pobst said. “We will benefit from what we learned in our first season in the new Volvos, mostly from reliability, I predict. We had good speed from the beginning with a sound design on the solid Volvo chassis. I really enjoy driving something unusual and attention getting. The K-Pax Volvo S60 stands out, even in the World Challenge GT crowd. I also relish the chance to be part of developing something so new and different.”

The Volvo S60 uses a 2.5-liter motor with 26 pounds of boost to compete against the much larger V8s and V10s. Team owner Jim Haughey does not see this as a disadvantage, however.

“The World Challenge GT is a great racing series for us because of the diversity of cars: Volvos, Vipers, Corvettes, Mustangs, Porsches and many more,” Haughey said. “All these different types of cars with their individual advantages and disadvantages really make for a challenging race season. The SCCA technical staff does such a good job of equalizing the cars that the outcome of the races is usually determined by car preparation and driver skill.”

This year the World Challenge has three classes of cars within each GT race, the GT cars, the GTS cars and the TC cars. As a driver, Pilgrim is looking forward to this new format.

“I think running a three class field will be great,” Pilgrim said. “It will bring the traffic variable into play, which is something I’m used to, having run so much in endurance racing championships. Traffic can help you or hurt you, it really depends on skill, luck and chance. It’s going to be a blast!”

Joining K-Pax Racing for a second season is sponsor TiAL Sports Inc. USA. TiAL Sports designs the highest quality engineered turbo charging products for today's performance systems market.

“TiAL Sports solved our turbo charger and waste gate problems last year,” Haughey said. “We could not run these turbo pressures without TiAL Sports engineered solutions and we are proud to use their products on our Volvos.”
