Valeo Joins GENIVI Alliance for the Development of Vehicle Infotainment Solutions

PARIS, March 3, 2010 -- Valeo announces that it has become a core member of the GENIVI Alliance, an association of automakers, suppliers and other industrial companies committed to the development and broad adoption of an open source In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) reference platform for the automotive industry.

IVI is a constantly evolving field that encompasses automotive infotainment products and services such as music, news, multimedia, navigation, telephone and the Internet. Connections can be made via sources outside of the vehicle, including mobile phones and MP3 players using Bluetooth, WIFI or other means.

Valeo, as a major supplier of driver interface solutions, aims to provide correspondent hardware and software platforms enabling advanced connectivity and driver interface technologies. Valeo has been anticipating this architectural evolution for several years in the development of its product offer which includes integrated control panel modules combining climate control and various other functions, tactile surfaces and large touch screens with haptics feedback.

The GENIVI Alliance is driving the development and adoption of advanced IVI systems, which will increase the demand for new connectivity solutions. By joining the Alliance, Valeo will help accelerate the pace at which these new solutions can be made available to automakers.

Valeo is an independent industrial Group fully focused on the design, production and sale of components, integrated systems and modules for cars and trucks. Valeo ranks among the world's top automotive suppliers.
