GRAMMER Active Head Restraint Systems Featured in Four Chrysler ‘Top Safety Pick’ Award Winning Vehicles

TROY, Mich.--GRAMMER AG Automotive’s innovative active head restraint system is featured on all four Chrysler Group LLC vehicles that received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) “Top Safety Pick” for 2010.

“The IIHS selected the 2010 Jeep® Patriot, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger and Dodge Journey for the awards”

The award recognizes vehicles that perform best in protecting passengers in front, side, rear and rollover crashes based on ratings in Institute tests. IIHS “Top Safety Pick” vehicles also must offer electronic stability control.

“The IIHS selected the 2010 Jeep® Patriot, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger and Dodge Journey for the awards,” said Paul Reader, senior Chrysler account manager for GRAMMER Industries, based in Troy, Michigan. All four vehicles are equipped with the company’s active head restraint system for front-seat occupants.

In a rear-end impact, GRAMMER’s active head restraint deploys and moves forward, decreasing the space between the restraint and the occupant's head, which helps reduce injuries caused by whiplash.

An IIHS study noted that neck injuries from rear-end collisions are the most common type of injury reported in auto crashes, accounting for two million insurance claims annually. GRAMMER’s active head restraint system also helps automakers meet new federal seating and head restraint regulations.

The GRAMMER active head restraint system also is found on the 2010 Dodge Caliber, Jeep® Compass, Dodge Nitro and Jeep® Liberty.
