"Van-Tastic" Start to the New Year For Peugeot Lcv Sales

PARIS – February 4, 2010: Peugeot’s strong LCV sales performance in 2009 has continued with a “van-tastic” result in January and a record market share of 9.54%.

A total of 1,137 light commercial vehicles were sold by Peugeot in January, up 59.2% compared to January 2009, in an LCV market down 2.5%. This excellent performance builds on the strong performance in 2009 which saw Peugeot report the smallest overall decline in LCV sales of 15.1% in a market down 35.2%.

The Peugeot Bipper and Expert have both reported strong sales growth in January. The practicality, compact size and clever packaging of the Peugeot Bipper is winning many customers who are down-sizing into vehicles which are more fuel efficient and closer to their actual load carrying needs.

The Peugeot Bipper can provide a load capacity of up to 2.8 m3 when specified with the multi-flex passenger seat and a combined fuel consumption of 62.7 mpg and CO2 emissions of 119g/km. Sales of the Peugeot Bipper increased by 294% in January with strong performance in both fleet and retail sales.

Sales of Peugeot’s Expert van also increased in January by 20.8% in a K1 market segment up 13.1%.
