PARIS – February 4, 2010: In a blistering start to its bicentenary year, Peugeot UK has rounded off a momentous January with some excellent sales figures.

Just three weeks after the global re-launch of the brand, Peugeot has seen January car sales increase by nearly 46% year-on-year, boosting market share to 5.76%. At the same time, Peugeot LCV sales were up almost 60% on Jan 2009 to give a record 9.54% market share.

The launch of the 3008, What Car? magazine’s Car of the Year, and an exciting range of special editions have helped retail sales soar by 65% compared to last January.

Reflecting its enduring appeal as well as the economic situation, the 207 continues to be the top seller in the Peugeot range, securing its spot in the country’s 10 most popular cars.

Fleet sales have increased by almost 32% year-on-year, demonstrating the ever increasing appeal of Peugeot’s fuel efficient and low CO2 range of cars and vans.

Jon Goodman, MD of Peugeot Motor Company, said: “What a start to this landmark year for the Peugeot brand! These are the results of the dedication shown by the Peugeot Dealer Network and everyone in the Company throughout a very difficult couple of years for the motor industry.

“Don’t forget, we also launched the 5008 in January to extremely positive reviews and, with the RCZ launch in the Spring, I am confident Peugeot will push on to take a greater share of the market as the year progresses.”
