OXFORDSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM – January 29, 2010: Effective immediately, leading UK turbocharger specialist Owen Developments is delighted to announce that it has taken over the sole distribution, sales and marketing rights for the performance enhancing Dastek Unichip aftermarket engine management system for the European Union.

Designed to suit both diesel and petrol powerplants in forced induction or naturally aspirated formats, the Unichip ECU is produced by engine management specialists Dastek, which has a 18,000 square feet research and development facility based in South Africa, employing 120 people.

A proven method of increasing the performance (and efficiency) of any petrol or diesel engine, the Unichip combines advanced features with low cost, making it an ideal solution for both aftermarket tuning and affordable short run high performance variants for an OEM or a vehicle importer. And with a growing range of mainstream passenger car and commercial plug and play ‘U-Connect’ applications, Unichip installation has never been easier.

Owen Developments is a long established Unichip dealer and was responsible for the development and validation of the highly successful Mitsubishi L200 performance upgrade, which incorporated an earlier version of the Unichip ECU.

Prior to this announcement Unichip Europe’s staff have already relocated to a new industrial unit adjacent to Owen Development’s main premises and restructuring of the UK dealer network has already begun.

Commenting on the news, Owen Development’s MD Brian Owen said “After nearly a decade of involvement with Unichip it’s extremely satisfying that Owen Developments is now in charge of the European program on behalf of Dastek. The Unichip is a very exciting product with enormous potential and we look forward to writing a new chapter of success with Unichip Europe Managing Director Henk Gouws, across a wide variety of markets.”
