FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif January 20, 2010; For the third consecutive year, the 2010 Hyundai Sonata was recognized by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) on its annual "Greener Choices 2010" list for earning the highest green score in its class. The Accent Blue was listed as one of the twelve most environmentally-friendly vehicles available to consumers this model year. Both the Sonata and Accent Blue will be featured in the ACEEE's Green Book Online, an annual consumers' guide to environmentally-friendly cars and trucks, available at www.greenercars.org.

"We are thrilled to be recognized for the third year in a row as a leader in fuel efficiency," said Michael Deitz, product manager, Hyundai Motor America. "The Sonata and Accent are just two examples of Hyundai's continued commitment to the environment and sustainability. As we head into 2010, you'll be seeing more Hyundai Blue Drive initiatives and our dedication to identifying fuel economy solutions."

The "Greener Choices" list is restricted to widely available gasoline-powered cars and light trucks with automatic transmissions, thus highlighting the widespread availability of environmentally friendly vehicle choices in many segments of the market.

The 2010 Sonata is equipped with a Theta II 2.4-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine that delivers power and acceleration with outstanding fuel economy. In fact, the Sonata is more fuel-efficient than Accord four-cylinder engine, delivering an impressive 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway fuel economy rating with the available five-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®. Accent's fuel efficiency is just as impressive, reaching as high as 36 miles per gallon on the highway which is better than Honda Fit and Nissan Versa.
