American Speed Association PR
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Tuesday, January 5, 2009) - Racing Promotion Monthly, the idea
newsletter for auto racing promoters and host of the popular RPM Promoters Workshops
recently announced the regional winners and nominees for the 34th Annual Auto Racing
Promoter of the Year (ARPY) Award. Two ASA Member Track Promoters, Al Varnadore
and Todd Hutto of East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL along with Steve Beitler of
Skagit Speedway in Burlington, WA were announced as regional winners and nominees
for the prestigious award.
"I was very pleased. It's nice to know that your hard work and effort is recognized,"
Beitler said when he learned that he was nominated. "I have a great team that is
working together and I constantly strive for more and make everything better. Every
day, every week and every month I try to make things better and has a little bit
of vision for the future. I look at everything as if I was looking through my
customer eyes and try to give them what I would want if I was the customer."
This is the second time this year that Beitler has been nominated for a Promoter
of the Year award as he is also currently one of five finalist for the National
Sprint Car Hall of Fame award as well.
"Every event we focus on, even if its a regular weekly racing show, we try to do
something special. Not everyone comes every week and if it happens to be the week
that someone comes, we want them to have a unique experience so they come back,"
Beitler explained. "Hard work, determination, and maybe a little bullheadedness
is what is making it happen."
Al Varnadore and Todd Hutto of East Bay Raceway Park were equally humbled to receive
an RPM regional award as well. "It's a very nice honor," Varnadore said. "It's
great to be thought of by a group of peers."
Varnadore had a simple answer as to why he felt they were nominated, "We do the
best we can for everybody involved. We try to make our fans comfortable along with
our racers as well," Varnadore said. "There is no doubt that we have been in a
tough economy but he held our prices and in fact we are a better bargain than most
movie theatres. This past year, we had great car counts and very loyal racers standing
behind us."
They were also humbled to be nominated by their peers through RPM, "The workshops
they provide are there to help us all out," Varnadore said. "They remind us promoters
that we all need to work together for the benefit of our tracks and this sport."
Both promoters also stated that they are very proud of being part of the ASA Member
Track program. "They know how to get winners. ASA should change the logo to...We
just don't only build champions but we have winning promoters as well," Beitler
said with a smile.
"We are very excited for both Skagit Speedway and East Bay Raceway Park on their
regional awards and nomination to be the 34th Annual RPM Promoter of the Year,"
Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "Everyone associated with both of the tracks
should be proud of the work they have put in this past year to receive this recognition.
We are very proud to have both in the ASA Member Track family. Congratulations
 to all."
The 34th Annual RPM Auto Racing Promoter of the Year will be announced during the
RPM Promoters Workshop taking place on February 8-10 at the Hilton Daytona Beach
 in Daytona Beach, FL.
