AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 16, 2009 -- BorgWarner will supply its advanced engine and drivetrain technologies for the Hyundai Tucson and ix35, including:

-- Chain timing systems from BorgWarner Morse TEC for the 2.0- and
      2.4-liter gasoline engines.
-- The Morse TEC "silent chain" timing drive offers low noise and
superior durability, providing precise and efficient performance
for the life of the engine.

-- Collated friction packs and roller one-way clutch assemblies from
BorgWarner Drivetrain Systems for the new generation six-speed
      automatic transmission.
-- These transmission components are optimized for minimal spin
losses, helping the new transmission reduce fuel consumption
compared with previous generation four- and five-speed automatics.

-- Glow plugs from BorgWarner BERU Systems, for the 2.0-liter diesel
      engine.
-- Essential to quick warm up and start of the catalyst to meet Euro
5 emissions standards, BorgWarner BERU Systems glow plugs deliver
instant, clean cold starts with lower emissions.

"BorgWarner's engine and drivetrain technologies are designed to reduce emissions, increase fuel economy and improve performance," said Tim Manganello, BorgWarner Chairman and CEO. "BorgWarner is proud to contribute these benefits to these exciting, all-new vehicles."

According to Hyundai, the 2010 ix35 will be built and sold in Europe with the all-new R 2.0-liter diesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine meets Euro 5 emissions standards and achieves 184 horsepower with 36.22 mpg (15.4 km/liter) fuel economy. The 2010 Tucson will offer 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter gasoline engines (optional in Europe) with the all-new six-speed automatic transmission and achieves 176 horsepower with 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway fuel economy.
