FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 9, 2009 -- For the second straight year, Hyundai's 4.6-liter Tau V8 engine, which debuted in the premium Genesis sedan, has been named one of the Ward's 10 Best Engines by Ward's Auto World.

Ward's Auto World editors tested the Tau V8 engine in Hyundai's premium Genesis sedan and concluded, "This year marks the first time only one V8 has made the grade," writes Ward's Auto World magazine executive editor, Tom Murphy. "In the Genesis sedan, the Tau continues to dazzle with its combination of silky, smooth power delivery, aggressive tip-in, satisfying exhaust note and admirable fuel economy."

The Hyundai Genesis is available with the Tau V8 combined with a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering the rewarding driving performance that premium sports sedan buyers demand.

"The Tau V8 has the sophistication to deliver a best-in-class combination of power and efficiency that perfectly suits today's premium sports sedan segment," said John Juriga, director of powertrain at the Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. "A laser-like focus on efficiency in engine design results in improved fuel economy, emissions performance, horsepower, and torque, which all add up to greater value for the customer."

For 2010, the 4.6-liter Tau V8 adds 10-horsepower delivering 385-horsepower and leading Genesis competitors with the highest specific output - 84-horsepower per liter. The 2010 Hyundai Genesis equipped with a Tau V8 engine still will achieve up to 25 miles per gallon on the highway, surpassing many key competitors' V6 models in fuel economy as well as power.

Additionally, Genesis and the Tau V8 engine, like all Hyundai products, are backed by the Hyundai Advantage, America's Best Warranty. Coverage includes five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper protection, 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, and seven-year/unlimited mileage anti-perforation coverage.

The Tau V8 engine and the Hyundai Genesis are built at Hyundai's Ulsan Plant in Ulsan City, Korea.
