MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – December 8, 2009: Volkswagen’s small van range, the Caddy and Caddy Maxi, has again been successful at the prestigious What Van? magazine annual Van of the Year Awards, collecting the coveted title of Editor’s Choice for the second successive year, with particular praise going to Volkswagen’s DSG gearbox.

What Van? magazine is Britain’s largest van buyer’s guide and the verdicts for the awards represent the distilled experience of the long-serving editorial team.

Commenting on the Caddy’s success, What Van? editor Neil McIntee explained: ‘Volkswagen’s Caddy is a versatile light van with enviable build quality for its market sector. The semi-automatic DSG transmission mated to the 1.9-litre TDI engine is something that comes with the What Van? seal of approval and is one of the reasons the Caddy has picked up the Editor’s Choice Award for the second year in a row.’

Simon Elliott, Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles commented: ‘To be named Editor’s Choice by such a significant publication as What Van? is a real achievement. To win the prestigious award for two consecutive years is a tremendous honour of which we are very proud.’

This is the second award for the Caddy in less than a month, with ACFO (the premier association for Fleet Operators) naming it joint ACFO Fleet Van of the Year 2009.

The Caddy and long-wheelbase Caddy Maxi panel vans offer load volumes of 3.2m2 and 4.2m2 respectively and payloads ranging from 720 kg up to 800 kg. They are available with highly efficient 1.9-litre or 2.0-litre SDI or 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines, while the Caddy Maxi is also available as a window van with five seats or a ‘Life’ people carrier with seven seats.
