SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Deals abound for car shoppers this “Black Friday” and throughout Thanksgiving weekend, according to Edmunds.com, an online resource for automotive information.

Edmunds.com regularly lists the True Market Value® Deals of the Month. This month’s selections include:

  • 2010 Acura TSX
  • 2009 Chrysler Town and Country Limited
  • 2009 Dodge Ram 1500
  • 2010 Ford Edge
  • 2010 Hyundai Sonata GLS
  • 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLK Convertible
  • 2009 Nissan Altima 2.5S Coupe
  • 2009 smart fortwo passion cabriolet
  • 2009 Volkswagen Routan
  • 2010 Volvo XC70

Edmunds.com has determined that nearly 100 new cars now cost less than (or nearly the same as) their one-year old used counterparts. Included in the list are:

  • 2009 BMW 328i
  • 2009 Cadillac CTS
  • 2009 Chevrolet Corvette
  • 2009 Ford Expedition EL Eddie Bauer
  • 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid
  • 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara
  • 2009 Lexus GS 450h

  • 2009 Toyota RAV4

The complete list of vehicles, their typical monthly payments and their savings compared to the used car purchase are displayed at http://www.edmunds.com/industry-car-news/new-vs-used-car-buying.html.

Edmunds.com also allows site visitors to check whether the prices of new cars of interest are expected to go up or down. The True Market Value® “Predicted Price Trends” list suggests that prices on most vehicles will continue to fall after Black Friday weekend.

“Dealers are determined to clear out their old inventory, so there is a lot of room for negotiation on all 2009 models," recommended Edmunds.com Senior Consumer Advice Editor Philip Reed. “But anyone looking for a bargain should be exploring their choices now, since the inventory will keep getting more limited as time passes.”

Consumers can check their local dealer inventory at http://www.edmunds.com/popupinfo/aboutnewcarinventory.html without having to go from store to store.
