TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – November 23, 2009: The lives of hearing-impaired children and their families assisted by community organisation Taralye will be made easier, thanks to the support of the ‘Honda Heroes’ program by The Honda Foundation

With help from Eastern Honda in Doncaster, the Honda Heroes program has supplied a Honda Civic Hybrid loan car to enable Taralye’s Early Intervention Officer Sally Flemming, to visit the families of children using the organisation’s services.

“Taralye is delighted to receive support from The Honda Foundation,” said CEO Therese Kelly. “The use of a motor vehicle allows us to extend our early intervention outreach by delivering services in families’ homes and local communities.”

Located in Blackburn, Taralye is Victoria’s leading oral language centre. The not-for-profit organisation provides services to deaf and hearing impaired children (aged under six) and their families throughout the State, including early intervention and early childhood programs.

Mr. Lindsay Smalley, Chairman of The Honda Foundation said, “Providing the Civic Hybrid to Taralye will not only improve the mobility of staff, it will help keep the organisation’s fuel costs down. The Foundation is proud to support such a worthy organisation.”

The Honda Foundation aims to provide assistance to local communities and foster goodwill between Honda Australia, Honda Motor Vehicle Dealers and the public. It draws funding from Honda Dealers and Honda Australia, who donate $15 ($5 and $10 respectively) for every Honda car sold.
