MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – November 13, 2009: Teenage Formula One driving sensation Jaime Alguersuari has been named a SEAT ambassador in a deal that sees the Spanish brand provide him with a very special model, a stunning new Leon Cupra R, to use when not driving his competition car.

A special event at SEAT’s modern Martorell factory saw Alguersuari receive the keys to his new Cupra R – the most powerful production car ever produced by SEAT – from Chairman of the Spanish brand’s Board of Directors Dr Francisco Javier García Sanz and SEAT S. A. President James Muir.

The deal is part of SEAT’s plan to support the successes of sportspeople such as Alguersuari in motorsport and other fields. Dr García Sanz explained: ‘SEAT is a young, sport-oriented brand, and its car designs mirror that spirit.

‘That is why we are delighted that Jaime, personifying the talent of the new generation of Spanish sportspeople and the youngest ever driver to debut in Formula One, will be able to enjoy driving his new Leon Cupra R – SEAT’s most powerful car ever.’

For his part, Jaime Alguersuari said: ‘I always had an idea that being a Formula One driver meant new challenges and a few perks. SEAT has asked me to be an ambassador for the brand, and this new eye-catching Leon Cupra R is going to be my personal car. It’s a real honour and privilege.’

The Cupra R is, of course, the SEAT Leon fleet’s stunning new flagship and boasts a brutally powerful 265 PS 2.0 TSI turbocharged petrol engine. It instantly becomes the most muscular production model ever to wear the trademark SEAT ‘S’, while its power output matches that of the title-winning SEAT Leon TDI World Touring Car.
