MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – November 12, 2009: Following the announcement earlier this month of Volkswagen UK’s Fleet Sales Manager, Matthew Bowden, moving to the Commercial Vehicles brand, we are pleased to say that his successor will be Michael O’Shea, currently Product Marketing Manager for small cars, including the new Polo and Golf.

Michael was selected for the role by Head of Fleet Services, Vincent Kinner, after interviews with a shortlist of candidates, and he will assume his new responsibilities from 14 December.

Having worked in the Product Marketing department for over three years, Michael brings a wealth of product development experience as well as a thorough knowledge of the relationship between Volkswagen UK and the factory in Wolfsburg, Germany. Prior to this he worked in Customer Services for two years. Michael has already had some experience of working in fleet, having begun his motor industry career in the late 1990s in Nissan’s fleet department.

Vincent Kinner commented: ‘I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Matthew Bowden over the last few years. He’ll be missed but I’d like to wish him every success in his new role. I am sure Michael will be a huge asset to the fleet department. He brings with him a wealth of valuable experience and a great attitude to work, and my team and I are looking forward to making him very welcome.’

Michael O’Shea added: ‘I’m thoroughly looking forward to my new responsibilities and to building new relationships with business customers and the fleet team. In product marketing we concentrate on Volkswagen’s strong products; in fleet I’ll also get to experience the people who sell these cars on to our business customers.’

Michael is 44 years old; he’s married and lives in Maidenhead, Berkshire, with his wife and three children.
