Mazda6 Diesel Still a Class Leader

VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – November 11, 2009: Almost one year after its Australian launch the stylish, powerful and economical Mazda6 Diesel maintains its position as a class leader in the medium segment.

The Mazda6 Diesel Sports hatchback and wagon was launched late last year as one of the most powerful and fuel efficient medium cars in Australia and little has changed even in the face of new competitors.

Boasting outstanding fuel economy of just 5.9L/100km for the hatch and 6.0L/100km for the wagon (combined cycle); Mazda6 Diesel Sports continues to provide guilt-free spirited performance while being soft on your wallet.

Drivers will be even more impressed when travelling outside of the city with the hatch sipping a frugal 5.1L/100km and wagon 5.2L/100km on the extra-urban cycle.

While fuel economy has been an important factor in attracting buyers to the Mazda6 Diesel, performance continues to be a major focus. An impressive 400Nm of torque is delivered by the MZR-CD 2.2L engine.

With the maximum 400Nm of torque being delivered from a low-down 1,800rpm right through to 3,000rpm Mazda6 Diesel drivers are able to enjoy the engine’s strengths in day-to-day driving. Combined with 136kW of power, the Mazda6 Diesel offers an unrivalled driving experience.

And of course Mazda6 Diesel Sports provides superior comfort and space for up to five adults and all the storage space buyers expect from a medium size car.

Mazda Australia’s Managing Director Doug Dickson said: “With over 600 sold since its launch late in 2008, Australian buyers have told us that they are attracted to the Mazda6 Diesel’s combination of comfort, performance and fuel efficiency.”

“And with the Mazda6 range also being included in Mazda’s early introduction of 2009 Duty Reduced Pricing, the Mazda6 Diesel now offers even greater value.”
