LONDON – October 28, 2009: Going green costs less at Autoquake.com: Britain’s largest online used car retailer has a selection of cars which achieve 50 miles to the gallon with prices starting well below £5,000.

“Think of green cars and you probably think of hybrids and the new generation of all-electric cars,” said Autoquake.com’s CEO, Garry Hobson. “However, you don’t need to buy an expensive, complex new model to enjoy excellent economy and low emissions.”

The Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 12v Life 5dr achieves 53.3mpg on the combined cycle. Autoquake.com has a 2006 06-plate car in stock with 55,709 miles on the clock, priced at £3280.

It’s not just supermini buyers who can go green for less. The Renault Mégane Sport Tourer 1.5 dCi 86 Expression achieves 62.8mpg. There’s a 2007 56-plate car on sale at Autoquake.com for just £3841.

There are even prestige cars which beat 50mpg and sneak under the £5k barrier. The Saab 9-3 1.9 TiD (120) Linear 4dr promises 52.3mpg. Autoquake.com has a 2006 56-plate car in stock for £4806.

In total, Autoquake.com’s ever-changing stock usually includes around 300 cars capable of better than 50mpg. Around a dozen cost less than £5000, and on average 60 cost less than £6000.

“Shopping with a limited budget is no barrier to finding a clean car,” said Hobson. “At Autoquake.com car buyers can be mean and green.”
