PETERSBURG, October 12, 2009: Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team posted some of their fastest times this weekend in Richmond, but fell just two-hundredths of a second short in the second round.

In each qualifying session, Tasca raced his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang down the track and consistently improved on the elapsed time. Tasca went from an opening pass of 4.191 seconds at 296.9 miles per hour to a personal best of 4.079-second pass at 306.4 miles per hour.

“It was big weekend for us because we knew we had to go rounds,” said Tasca. “Our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang kept getting faster during the qualifying rounds. I had the fastest run of my career on Saturday night with that 4.079-second run. We made great progress on our cool weather tune-up and we really had high hopes for Sunday.”

Tasca’s quickest pass on Saturday afternoon would seed him in the seventh position for Sunday’s elimination rounds. Tasca defeated Jim Head in the first pair on Sunday morning.

“We had a big match-up against Head in the first round,” said Tasca. It was great first round win and we were the third quickest of the session. Every round is big round at this point of the season.”

Tasca would face Ron Capps in the second round. Capps crossed the finish line 0.0296 seconds ahead of Tasca, approximately 13 feet.

“We were trying to run a 4.10 against Capps because we knew we had to go a 10 to win,” said Tasca. “Unfortunately, we came up a little short with a 4.14. It is tough to lose by two-hundredths and we’re you’re that close, it’s even tougher.”

During the two-week break, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team will stay focused on the final two races of the season. Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team are still in the championship hunt sitting seventh in series standings.

“We’re just about 100 points out of first place with eight rounds to go in the season,” said Tasca. “We’re going into Las Vegas with a positive attitude, confidence and maybe a little bit of luck.”
