TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – October 5, 2009: The Honda Foundation and Darryl Twitt Honda in Shepparton has delivered a brand new Honda CR-V for use by community organisation Evolve at Typo Station (Evolve), to assist young people affected by the Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria.

Evolve’s Bushfire Recovery Program is run in conjunction with Yea High School and Alexandra Secondary College, as well as the broader local community. Evolve’s program responds to the needs of young people experiencing significant difficulties due to the ongoing effects of the bushfire disaster.

The Honda CR-V will be used by Evolve’s Bushfire Recovery Program Coordinator Andy Umbers, to visit young people throughout Yea and Alexandra and will also be used at Typo Station in Victoria’s King Valley. The CR-V is playing a vital role for the organisation as they previously had only one vehicle for use in their important programs.

Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Lindsay Smalley said the CR-V would form an important part of Evolve’s work in the community. “This vehicle will enable Evolve’s team to travel around the State assisting young people who are still affected by the bushfires that devastated their communities. The Foundation is proud to support Evolve and in turn our young people, who deserve to have the best start in life.”

Evolve’s CEO Mr. Paul Stolz said, “It’s not just another car. For many of our disadvantaged young people, it provides them with access, opportunity and participation – the key elements of what it means to have an ‘advantage’.”

The Honda Foundation aims to provide assistance to local communities and foster goodwill between Honda Australia, Honda Motor Vehicle Dealers and the public. It draws funding from Honda Dealers and Honda Australia, who donate $15 ($5 and $10 respectively) for every Honda car sold.
