SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – September 29, 2009: The new Range Rover Sport 10MY has come top in a best design newcomers award poll conducted by Europe's biggest selling motor magazine. Readers of Germany's prestigious Auto Motor and Sport magazine voted the Range Rover Sport into first place in the off-road vehicles category of the Autonis awards - ahead of its home grown German rivals.

More than ten thousand readers took part in the reader survey comprising 89 different vehicles in eight separate categories available in the market place. In the off-road category readers had to choose between thirteen vehicles. The Range Rover Sport 10MY came first with 20.4% of the vote, the Audi Q7 took second with 17.4% and third place went to the Mercedes ML with 10.4 %.

The Awards ceremony at the Frankfurt motor show (IAA) was supported by the automotive industry's leading designers. Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director, said, "The new Range Rover Sport has a cleaner, more muscular appearance with a bold new frontal graphic that helps to reinforce the vehicle's athletic stance. To be voted top by readers of a highly respected German magazine ahead of strong competition from the homegrown competition is a truly outstanding achievement."

The interior of the Range Rover Sport 10MY has been comprehensively redesigned and features significantly improved standards of quality and craftsmanship that are truly worthy of the Range Rover brand. The cabin retains its popular, snug, cockpit feel but incorporates higher quality materials, sumptuous soft-touch finishes and superb detailing throughout.

The Range Rover Sport 10MY is due to arrive in Australia in early October
