Frankfurt September 15, 2009; German IAV (Ingenieurgesellschaft Auto & Verkehr - or the Association Engineers, Auto and Traffic) wants to make the electric car less dependent on battery technology. The future electric vehicle could automatically and without any connection ‘take’ its electricity during driving or parking.

A wire in the driving lane or in parking spots generates a magnetic field. A pick up under the car generates electricity through induction. (This principle is used to load the electric tooth brush).

“In the model test our new system functions already excellent,” said Wilfried Nietschke, range leader for Technology monitoring. As proof the IAV, shows at the IAA a plant on a scale 1:28. A stretch of road with the ‘load lane’ for demonstration and a test section on a scale 1:1 in already planned to build in the German Lower Saxony state.

The IAV does not want to make comments on the costs of their technology, as up till now they are still in the project phase.
