TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – September 25, 2009: Honda Motor Co. has been named one of the top four automotive brands in the world according to BusinessWeek and Interbrand’s 100 Best Global Brands 2009 list.

Honda, along with Toyota, Mercedes Benz and BMW, is one of only four automotive brands in the top 20 and the only one to improve (by two spots) on last year’s rankings.

Ranked 4th automotive brand and 18th overall in 2009, Honda finished ahead of Ford, Porsche, VW, Audi and Lexus for a total brand value of almost $18 billion.

Honda Australia Managing Director and CEO Mr Yasuhide Mizuno said, “We are delighted that Honda has been able to increase its ranking as a leading global brand, despite the challenging year caused by the global financial crisis. Brand value is a strong reflection of consumer confidence and trust, so knowing that Honda ranks highly is a postive sign we are consistnetly exceeding consumer expectations”.

The annual Best Global Brands list ranks the top 100 by brand value and is prepared by leading brand consultancy Interbrand on behalf of BusinessWeek magazine (US).
