WASHINGTON, Aug 4, 2009; Richard Cowan writing for Reuters reported that legislation to inject more money into a popular "cash-for-clunkers" program aimed at increasing U.S. automobile sales will pass the Senate before the start of a month-long recess at the end of this week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on Tuesday.

Reid made his remarks to reporters after he and other Senate Democrats met with President Barack Obama to discuss expanding this program and unrelated healthcare legislation.
